made to Create.

In the beginning the earth was without form and void (Genesis 1:2). So God takes what has no form and He shapes and creates the nothingness into something. But this something that He creates has such beautiful form and beauty. So beautiful that it is breathtaking. ๐ŸŒ

The sunset at the top of Mauna Kea (Big Island) above the clouds in Hawaii – breathtaking. ๐ŸŒ…

The water falls seemingly coming out of the mouth of mountains like the Nevada Falls at Yosemite – breathtaking.

The majestic and powerful waves capped with the light of the glistening sun curling one after another in to the sea shore of the beaches of Hana in the Pacific, or Carmel by the Sea in Northern CA – breathtaking. ๐ŸŒŠ

The artistry of His hands is simply breathtaking.

We can see captured images of these forms of creation, but cameras have yet to be invented that can articulate the reality and sensation of awe when we get to witness the work of His hands through the very megapixels of our eyes.

After God finished giving majestic beauty to the formless void, He then creates the pinnacle of all His creation – you and I.

Then God said,ย โ€œLet us make man in our image,ย after our likeness. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” 1

It’s humbling yet amazingly powerful that God would create us in His likeness, to be like Him. And in His likeness He then gave us dominion over the planet that He had just given form to!

“… Andย let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. And God blessed them. And God said to them,ย โ€œBe fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.โ€ย 29ย And God said, โ€œBehold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. …” 2

God has put the earth in our hands. We were meant to have dominion over the earth He created for us, to be with us. And in His likeness we were meant to create in the world just like our Creator. So create…

If you are good with your hands – paint, draw, build something, create. ๐ŸŽจ ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ ๐Ÿงฑ๐Ÿ—๏ธ

If God gave you a way with words – write, blog, articulate your imagination into stories to share with and inspire others, create. โœ๏ธ

If God gifted you with musical ability (which I think is all of us in some shape or form) – sing, compose, play an instrument, create music. ๐ŸŽต Sing to your Creator!

Work is a gift from God, an avenue where we get to use the gifts and abilities that our Creator gave us. To create and cultivate of the world that He has put in our hands for His glory and honor.

We were meant to create in the likeness of our Creator. So let us go out into the earth, in our communities and cities and use our talents, abilities and God-given gifts to work and create something beautiful that will be a testament and reflection to others of the glory of our God! In the words of Paul, “… whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 3
